It all started three years ago, when for the first time in my life, I visited Italy.
It was my first trip abroad in seven years, and it was my first trip to Europe.
My first sight of so much European beauty was an overwhelming and truly breathtaking experience.
Since then, I have found time to travel abroad more often, and have revisited Italy, and explored Austria, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, and China.
As I traveled the world and saw many impressive sights, I was moved and inspired by all of them.
And at the same time, I began to develop thoughts about my own country in ways I never did before.
Compared with many countries in the world, Japan is a very rich nation in economic terms.
Wherever we go in the world, there is not a country where Japanese automobiles and Japanese consumer electronics do not exist.
These are all goods the world yearns for.
Yet, Japan is not just a country of automobiles and gadgets.
Since early childhood, I have been exposed to the inimitable Japanese beauty that is contained especially in her culture and art.
However, the more I discuss this experience with people from all parts of the world, I learn each time that Japan is an unknown country, in terms of its culture and arts.
For them, Japan has always been a country of automobiles and electrical appliances, and never a country of art and aesthetics.
Would it not be a fair statement to say that Japanese aesthetic, with the utmost refineness found in its style and values, is an inimitable beauty which cannot be found elsewhere in the world?
We wish to introduce Japanese aesthetic in its finest manifestations to people in every corner of the globe.
We aim to produce artwork that is not excessively abstract so it can easily fit into any daily landscape anywhere in the world.
It is our mission to provide art products which can demonstrate Japan’s glamorous beauty to the rest of the world.
This goal is the basis of our product concept at Wakano, and we hope to adhere to this goal as we continue to create our products.
We will produce an authentic Japanese-original art brand that the whole world will come to know about, recognize, and yearn for.
